HOT TAR CHIPPING EDINBURGH
Tar and chip paving is very similar to asphalt as it is a combination of hot liquid asphalt cement, liquid Asphalt Content (A/C) (or hot tar if you prefer) as a binder and gravel as the main structural component. Tar and chip has been used for over 100 years, all over the world, with great success to pave and resurface roads, parking lots, residential driveways, etc. It works by waterproofing and stabilising the overlaid surface. The liquid bitumen penetrates in between cracks and joints, helping to bond deteriorating surfaces back together. It is a very cost-effective method of maintaining deteriorating roads and driveways. At Roadsafe Surfacing Ltd we aim to be the best tar and chip solution company for Edinburgh and the surrounding areas with over with over 15 years experience, see what our happy customers say about us on our review page.

For areas that experience heavy traffic, HGV movements, or tight turning circles, we often recommend applying a second coat of bitumen and aggregate to create an even stronger and more resilient surface. This typically involves using a larger 10mm aggregate for the first layer, followed by a finer 6mm aggregate for the second coat, resulting in enhanced durability and performance.
